Improving the health of American Indians is widely-supported goal. Business as usual is no longer acceptable. Members of Congress, tribal leaders, and citizens of this country can no longer tell tribal citizens that the current system of health care delivery in Indian Country is tolerable. A system that turns away those most in need, and that rewards bureaucracies and punishes innovation, cannot be allowed to persist.
