Tybee Island [Georgia] received more money Tuesday for the Tybee Beach Re-nourishment project.
As we've been telling you, sand on Tybee has been slipping away. That prompted Tybee's mayor last year to make a You-Tube video to document the damage, hoping lawmakers would watch and earmark federal money for beach re-nourishment.
Today, Tybee received $35,000 from Southern-lNG, a private company that operates an import terminal on Elba Island.
“It's a great thing cause this just shows that they're being good neighbors and the Georgia Ports authority has been a good neighbor too by helping to contribute to this as well by funding a study that ah in the end proved that the users of the port and the channel itself are what's causing our erosion.”
The mayor tells us that everything is looking good, permits and funding and that maybe they'll receive additional support from the state, possibly a million dollars from what the senate is working on.
