Oklahoma Voters Want Transparency Web site

^The Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs (OCPA) commissioned a poll to see if Oklahoma voters favored the creation of a searchable Internet database that tracks government spending, similar to the database Dr. Coburn successfully proposed for federal spending. 

According to OCPA, 72 percent of Oklahomans support the creation of such a Web site.  Only 19 percent of respondents are opposed, while nine percent were undecided.^  Click here to read more.

Dr. Coburn, along with OCPA vice president Brandon Dutcher, penned a letter making the case for transparency in state government.

The Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act sponsored by Dr. Coburn and Senator Barack Obama was signed into law in fall 2006.  The federal spending Web site will launch in January 2008.
